Óscar Jiménez Serrano

Conference interpreting

Simultaneous and consecutive interpreting for academic congresses, institutional meetings and cultural policy forums. Specialisation in the humanities and social sciences. Work in the booth does not begin when the microphone opens: it begins with systematic preparation of the context, terminology and discourse that will be mediated.

Not repetition.
Deep comprehension, reconstructed with precision.

Since 2006, a member of the interpretation team at the Premios Princesa de Asturias — one of Spain's foremost internationally broadcast institutional ceremonies. This nineteen-year presence was publicly documented by the University of Granada in 2024.

University teaching

Professor at the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting, University of Granada. Training interpreters and translators capable of operating in demanding environments: solid technique, independent judgement, intellectual autonomy. Former coordinator of the UGR Master's in Conference Interpreting.

The classroom is not a theory repository.
It is where thinking is learned.

Research

Director of the TRADINTEC research group (HUM-826), whose main line of work focuses on interpreting and new technologies — remote interpreting, hybrid and automatic interpreting, and scientific-technical translation. The doctoral thesis, awarded the Premio Extraordinario de Doctorado, initiated a sustained engagement with specialised terminology that today converges with the study of the technological transformation of the profession.

More than 60 specialised publications, with continuous coverage in Dialnet since 1993. ORCID: 0000-0002-5761-114X. Participation in national and international R&D projects. Member of the excellence unit "Ciencia en la Alhambra" and of the Cátedra de Innovación en Diseño, Artesanía y Arte Contemporáneo at the UGR.

Research is not bibliography accumulated.
It is questions formulated that demand thinking.
